A grant from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center will help the Sandwich STEM Academy host a Clean Energy Activity Day next week.

The $8,000 grant will fund the activities, exhibits, and speakers throughout the day. The activities will be geared toward students in 6th grade through 8th grade and will provide hands-on approaches to science, technology, engineering, and math.

STEM teachers Renee Fudala, Amy Ferreira, Betty Hyde-McGuire and Ginger Lavelle helped make the event a reality.

Ms. Fudala said that speakers at the event will include Kathy Driscoll from Massachusetts Maritime Academy and Eben Franks, a member of the Science Advisory Board for STEM.

There will be exhibits by Boston Solar, Bristol Community College, Trinity Solar, Cotuit Solar LLC, the New England Marine Renewable Energy Center and more.

The Clean Energy Festival will be taking place during the school day on Tuesday, May 22, from 9:30 AM to 2 PM.
